Public Utility District No. 1 of Okanogan County Announces  “Transmission Line Energized"

Public Utility District No. 1 of Okanogan County (PUD) is proud to announce completion of the Pateros Twisp Transmission Line Project (PT Project).    The PT Project consists of approximately 27 miles of new 115 kV transmission line from Watson Draw in Pateros to the Twisp Substation east of Twisp.  The new line creates a second feed to the Methow Valley area to increase reliability and reduce line losses.

Construction of the PT Project started in April 2016 after the PUD awarded the project bid to Michels Power of Tumwater.  With construction completed in October 2017, the new line is now energized and serving Methow Valley customers and those of the Okanogan County Electric Co-op.

It has been two decades since the PUD started planning a new transmission line as a backup to the Loup Loup line, which has been the single line serving the Methow Valley since 1948.
