Please be on alert for another scam targeting PUD customers in Okanogan County.

This latest threat comes from a pop-up message on your computer that says something like:

WARNING:  Public Utility District No. 1 of Okanogan County Customer - Your Internet Explorer browser and computer may be compromised by security threats.  Call 1-877-xxx-xxxx now for IMMEDIATE assistance.

Please be advised that this message is not from Okanogan County PUD, and calling the number provided in this message will not connect you to the Okanogan County PUD offices.  The PUD would never send an automated pop-up like this to your personal computer.

If you receive this pop-up message on your computer, please call Okanogan PUD at 509-422-3310.

You can also report suspicious calls or emails to the lead agencies investigating nationwide scams, State Attorney General’s Office or the Federal Trade Commission.
