Please be on alert for another scam targeting PUD customers in Okanogan County.

This latest threat comes from a pop-up message on your computer that reads as follows:

WARNING:  Public Utility District No. 1 of Okanogan County Customer - Your Firefox browser and your PC may have critical security vulnerabilities.  Call 1-855-xxx-xxxx (toll free press 1) now for immediate assistance.  Please only call if the following date and time match.  5/13/15  11:05

Please be advised that this message is not from Okanogan County PUD, and calling the number provided in this message will not connect you to the Okanogan County PUD offices.  The PUD would never send an automated pop-up like this to your personal computer.

If you receive this pop-up message on your computer, you may call Okanogan PUD at 509-422-3310 to verify the status of your account.

You can also report suspicious calls or emails to the lead agencies investigating nationwide scams, Washington State Attorney General’s Office or the Federal Trade Commission.
